New Colliers International website makes it easy to find properties
Posted: 27th October 2009
Colliers International, the JSE-listed real estate solutions group, has redesigned its website to allow customers access to a variety of property options in one medium and give them a new type of search functionality and make locating specific properties easier.
The new website, http://www.colliers.co.za , designed and developed by Graydot, a real estate systems and software development company, is search engine-optimised, which gives it a prominent position in any search engine listing, and offers visitors a number of attractive search features to rapidly locate the property of their choice.
"For the first time we now list all our different divisions on one site, giving visitors a portal into residential, development, commercial, auction, and fractional properties," says Sanett Uys, director of group corporate affairs at Colliers International. "That is also an important point from a branding perspective, but it is the optimised search facility on the site that really improves the experience for visitors."
Mark Buttress, MD of Graydot, says: "The search mechanism was a key focus and it splits searches based on the business operation sector a visitor is focused on, which is selected from one of the bold tabs at the head of the page clearly delineating residential from development, commercial, auction and fractional properties."
Visitors to Colliers International’s new website land on the residential page and are immediately offered search functionality that they can tailor their search through a number of filters according to their criteria. In that regard the search functionality is similar to what is already available to users but, unlike the others, it offers further filtering that allows people to customise their searches and more rapidly locate properties that take their interest.
"It’s an intelligent search engine, because as visitors play with filters the search updates," says Buttress, "it returns results off the first few letters of a search and updates the search results when they modify the drop-down ranges."
The new website goes a step further and, if visitors register their details, will automatically alert them to new properties matching their search criteria via SMS and e-mail. When the site sends an e-mail it also alerts relevant Colliers International principals and agents by geography so that, should the visitor be interested in a property, they can immediately offer relevant assistance.
The site presents information in three ways: the standard list view that proliferates across traditional sites, a gallery view that is graphical, or a map view that locates properties geographically. Although not all properties are geocoded the system locates them on Google Maps and lists nearby amenities.
