Our main aim is to maximise the property’s exposure in order to sell it at the highest possible price. An advertising budget is created for each property, based on the value of the property. We will create a dynamic, professional and unique advertising programme and develop a customised marketing plan for your property in South Africa, and use the appropriate mix of communication channels to reach the desired target audience. The auction process
- The evaluation of property to be auctioned - The people at Colliers Auctions are professionally qualified to appraise and evaluate your immovable as well as movable assets prior to the auction.
- Signing a sole mandate - We will require you to sign a sole mandate.
- Preparing an information / due diligence pack: We will produce a full-colour, well-documented information pack to be distributed directly to targeted purchasers and individuals who responded to our marketing and advertising campaigns.
- Handling enquiries - Colliers Auctions will personally deal with enquiries regarding the property to be auctioned. We will assist prospective purchasers throughout the entire auction process. A company representative will be at the property on show days to assist with enquiries, build up a database and attract prospective bidders. We will also assist prospective bidders who cannot make the show days.
- Auction day - All buyers will be required to register prior to bidding at the auction. The auction will be held on the property itself or at a suitable venue close to the site. The property auction will be well managed with music, exciting branding, buyers’ guides and marketing materials to create a positive bidding atmosphere.
- Financial aspects - Commission will be payable by the purchaser on the day of the auction. On the day of the auction the purchaser will put down a 5% deposit at the fall of the hammer. Please note that the deposits are kept in our trust account until required by the seller’s attorneys.

Marketing and advertising will typically include the following:
- Media releases and advertisements - We want to showcase your property to the general public. Our PR Department will therefore prepare and send out media releases, and place advertisements in newspapers and other publications both locally and nationally.
- Marketing on our website - Your auction will receive exposure on our user-friendly website at www.colliers.co.za.
- Database marketing - Our IT Department will track and research potential purchasers and target these individuals as well as other parties selected from our extensive database. We will notify the selected target group of the auction through e-mail and SMS messages.
- Handing out flyers - Should we feel that the auction requires further local marketing we will produce leaflets to be handed out in the area to create increased public interest and participation.
- Advertising, posters and signage - We will erect a prominent and professionally designed advertising board at the property to attract attention from the public driving past. We will also use advertising on lamp-posts. Prior to the auction, as well as on the day of the auction, we will erect pointer boards and branding in the vicinity to attract attention to the auction.
