The Kosmos property region is a sought after suburb in the Hartebeespoort property area in the North West Province of South Africa, situated on the northen banks of the Hartbeespoort Dam and on the steep southern slope of the Magaliesberg range.  Various new estates are spread out along Kosmos road and on the R512 towards the north western banks of the Hartbeespoort Dam.


The Hartebeespoort Dam was constructed in the 1920’s and thereafter the first holiday cottages were built in Kosmos.  The name of the Kosmos region was derived from the kosmos flowers which grow wild in great drifts in many parts of the Highveld and in particular on the roads from the nearby major cities.
